Our objective is to promote the music of Johnnie Ray and keep the memory of his contributions to Popular Culture alive. Also, we supply members with a monthly fan club newsletter, full of interesting articles, CD reviews, photos, etc.

The fan club was founded as Memories Of Johnnie Ray by Ric Patterson in 1998. Ric picked up the Johnnie Ray Fan Club where the New Jersey fan club left off (it was the last surviving Johnnie Ray Fan Club when it disbanded in in 1991). The first issue of the new Johnnie Ray Newsletter "Cry" was to make Johnnie Ray Fans aware that a re-surgence of his music was about to erupt on the compact disc market, Columbia Records had decided to release more than just one CD by Johnnie (16 Most Requested), and started a full promotional campaign to coincide with the release of "High Drama: The Real Johnnie Ray" complete with a press kit mailed to radio stations all over the world. This was the first time Columbia had done a complete exclusive promotion for Johnnie (one of their biggest-selling artists of all time) since 1959. Quite a few (more than 20) CD re-issues of Johnnie Ray CD's have been released by various labels since. The fan club has since changed it's name to "The Johnnie Ray International Fan Club" in recognition of so many members outside of the U.S.

Our approximately 200 members live all over the world, about 80% are Europeans. We have members in the USA, Canada, South Africa, Australia, India, Japan, France, and, of course, The U.K., where the majority of the fan club members are.
